<image:title>projects - ACM DESIGN CONFERENCE</image:title>
<image:caption>June 5-6, 2017, Denver, CO ACM Designing for Adventure Workshop The Exhibits Team, along with the Association of Children's Museums, hosted a national conference for museum and exhibit design professionals. This design workshop asked: How can we make exhibits that spark curiosity and holds a child's attention? How can exhibits plant the seeds of surprise and wonder? How can exhibits entice a family to return again and again and keep exploring? For the Exhibits Team, the idea of adventure encapsulates its answer to these central questions of exhibit design. Unlike other workshops, this immersive program included a design charrette—an opportunity to collaboratively design an exhibit, get your hands dirty, and gain feedback from colleagues. The Exhibits Team offers workshops for individual organizations to ideate specific concepts and help build and strengthen internal staff capacities.</image:caption>

<image:title>projects - GREAT LAKES FUTURE / CITY OF FRESHWATER EXHIBITS</image:title>
<image:caption>Discovery World at Pier Wisconsin Milwaukee, WI: 2006-2009 These two exhibits are part of a magnificent science and technology venue, situated on Lake Michigan's glittering shore. Each deals with various aspects of water, both phenomenal and human use. The exhibits comprise roughly 4000 square feet each and include many systems for guest interactivity, biological and geological displays. Great Lakes Future Exhibit was the winner of the 2008 American Institute of Architects Merit Award. Jonathan Goldstein served as project leader and designer while in the employ of La Dallman Architects. Other team members included James Dallman (principal), Grace La (principal), Paul Lorenz, Bob Tiede, and Dan Hesketh. <image:title>projects - WINGS OVER THE ROCKIES</image:title>
<image:caption>Exploration of Flight: Blue Sky Gallery Centennial, Colorado: 2018 The Exhibits Team worked with Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum to design exhibits and graphics for their new Blue Sky Gallery at Centennial Airport. The charge was to create experiences that celebrate the adventure of flight and inspire a new generation of aviators and aviation professionals. The Blue Sky Gallery is phase I of a large scale campus project and will focus on the notion of a “living hangar” allowing visitors to get up close to the many aspects of flight. We have designed a gallery space within the hangar that includes; a partner controlled Gyro chair – a fun stress testing experience; Flying Blind - a weather driven, partner based interactive labyrinth that demonstrates the relationships between tower control and pilots flying in weather; an overhead Pilot Chair Zip line; and secret Technological Research Room. Our scope also includes providing a basic design for object/text based exhibits located on the mezzanine level.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Greeley, Colorado, USA, 2019. In collaboration with the Boys & Girls Club of Weld County, The Exhibits Team assisted with the refresh of an existing kitchen. The subtle addition of a window connects this important space with the entry lobby, offering more light and views. Custom artwork enlivens kitchen and lobby alike, honoring the act of preparing healthy and delicious food. The talented artist Betony Coons created the majority of artwork depicted in the renderings. This project proves you do not need huge spaces to have great exhibits. Inhabitable cabinets of curiosity. Hidden bookcase entrances. Periscope paintings. Epoch salons. Layers of discovery to beckon repeat visitation!</image:caption>

<image:caption>Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA: 2008 Conceived for the second bi-annual Marcus Prize, Berlin-based Barkow Liebinger Architects and Professor Kyle Talbott of the University of Wisconsin School of Architecture and Urban Planning led a group of students to design a small scale shelter on a brown field site in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Menomonee Valley Park Pavilion puts focus on site-specific design, exploring the overlapping moment between the area’s industrial and natural elements. The ecological reclamation project is the first in a series of pavilions that will be built in the public parkway. Kyle Talbott is a Design Principal with the Exhibits Team. This project demonstrates a high-tech process with a low-tech delivery, a hallmark of The Exhibits Team design approach.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Denver, Colorado: 2015 The Children’s Museum of Denver at Marsico Campus opened an expanded 9.1 acre campus in November 2015. As part of the expansion, we added a 3.5 story climber where guests may ascend to a glass-capped peak; an arts studio complete with clay, kilns - and an artist in residence program; an energy exhibit where families think like engineers to find, collect and use different resources to power amazing things; a water exhibit that tests theories behind flow, buoyancy, density and displacement; a working teaching kitchen where families can try delicious foods and learn how to prepare them; and Joy Park, a 30,000 sq. ft. one of a kind outdoor park complete with ruins, canyons, a river and sand dunes to explore, designed in collaboration with Mundus Bishop Landscape Architects. <image:caption>Taipei, Taiwan: 2017 After a visit to the Children's Museum of Denver at Marsico Campus, soon-to-be museum owner Walter Yang hired The Exhibits Team to design and oversee fabrication of Taiwan’s first children’s museum. After multiple visits to the city of Taipei, the museum located in a former department store, began to take the shape of Earth, Forest and Sky-themed spaces. Exhibits include; a 2-story climbing structure modeled after their famous Taipei 101 building, a bubbles exhibit, a kinetics ball exhibit, a paper rocket launching area, an arts space, and an airship sculpture by Denver artist Nicole Banowetz.</image:caption>
